Johannesburg
is known best for the rich history of gold mining, so much so that it
is also known as the 'City of Gold'. It is considered to be the
financial capital of South Africa and is one of the nation's largest
cities. With it's modern city centre, shopping malls and sky
scrappers it is little surprise that Johannesburg is one of South
Africa's largest tourist attractions, not just for those visiting
from other countries but thanks to cheap flights from Durban to Johannesburg
and also from Cape Town to Johannesburg, many South
African visitors also make short trips to the city when they find
themselves in need of a break.
Just
some of the major attractions which draw people to Johannesburg
include the Gold Reef City – a historically accurate reconstruction
of a gold rush town – and Johannesburg Zoo. The majority of
visitors also make the effort to climb all the way to the top of the
Africa skyscraper for some spectacular views and to sample the
cuisine at the famous rooftop restaurant. After lunch, you might want
to take in Gandhi Square and Nelson Mandela Square which are both
surrounded by interesting places to visit.
Johannesburg
is a city with a great deal to offer all who visit, whether you are
interested in historical sites, fine dining or just natural beauty
you will find plenty to enjoy. There are regular domestic flights and
international flights arriving and departing Johannesburg
International Airport on a daily basis – so why wait? Get busy and
start researching the cheapest flights from South Africa and
start planning a holiday you will not soon forget.
